1st project meeting of MAIL project in Soria of Spain

The 1st project meeting of the MAIL project was held on the 22nd and 23rd of October in Soria of Spain. The goal of MAIL project involves the determination, classification and assessment of the use of Marginal Lands as carbon pools in Europe. The project team is formed by 6 partners from Greece (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki & Homeotech Co.), Poland (Space Research Centre of Polish Academy of Sciences), Spain (Polytechnic University of Valencia & Cesefor Foundation) and Germany (IABG MBH). The meeting took place in the premises of Cesefor Foundation, where our company was represented by Mr. Nikolaos Gounaris, Mr. Lampros Papalampros and Mrs. Anna Argyroudi.

The project is founded by EU Research and Innovation programme “Horizon 2020”. Particularly by Marie Skłodowska-Curie/ RISE action (International and inter-sectoral cooperation through the Research and Innovation Staff Exchanges) where its implementation is based on specialized personnel secondments.

In the context of the meeting, presentations and discussions where made upon the results of the tasks that have been performed and as the outcome of the personnel secondments among partners, while a planning of the next-year secondments was made.  Also, a visit was carried out in a pilot area of the project, where Forest Service officers presented the potentiality of the area’s land use for future afforestation activities that will serve the project goals.
