Participation in the Action “Development of a Common Protocol to Assess the Impact of Forest Management Practices on Climate Change” and 1st work package completion

On December 2017 the 1st work package of the Action “Development of a Common Protocol to Assess the Impact of Forest Management Practices on Climate Change ” was completed. This Action is part of the EuropeAid program, which is co-funded by the European Union and Turkey as part of the Capacity Building in the Field of Climate Change in Turkey Grant Scheme.


The Action is being implemented by two partners: Democritus University of Thrace which participates in the project through the Department of Forestry and Management of the Environment and Natural Resources and Karadeniz Technical University which participates in the project through the Faculty of Forestry, Department of Forest Engineering. Mrs. Despina Vlachaki, a company executive, participates in the program as a PhD candidate for Democritus University of Thrace.


The aim of the project is to explore and enhance the contribution of planted forests in the mitigation of climate change impacts through their operation as carbon sinks. The duration of the project is 1 year (15/9/2017 to 14/09/2018).
