Join Our International Training for Trainers on Climate-Resilient Green Urban Areas

We are pleased to announce and invite experts and practitioners to participate in a joint cross-border online Training for Trainers (ToT) organized within the framework of the Project “Green Urban Resilience – Climate Change Adaptation Solutions for Smart and Resilient Cities in the Black Sea Basin (BSB00006)”

The project is implemented under the first call for proposals of Interreg VI-B NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme 2021–2027 and is co-funded by the European Union with 90% financial support, with a total project budget of €1,290,188.88

 

Green Urban Resilience is a cross-border cooperation initiative aiming to support climate change adaptation in urban areas, particularly addressing the Urban Heat Island effect through:

_ Development of green and nature-based urban solutions

_ Integration of climate adaptation into local planning policies

_ Establishment of the International LANDLAB for scientific support

_ Strengthening the capacity of local authorities, experts, and communities

The project brings together partners from Türkiye, Bulgaria, Georgia and Greece, combining scientific expertise and practical municipal experience to build more resilient, sustainable and climate-adaptive cities

The ‘Training for trainers’ aiming capacity building will be realized on: 08 April 2026 /Wednesday/ in online format, English language and it is open to all interested local experts.

This joint event aims to build the capacity of experts working in urban green infrastructure and landscaping, enabling them to:

_ Apply climate-resilient approaches in public green areas and residential gardens

_ Gain access to jointly developed training materials and booklets

_ Understand how to deliver local trainings for two key target groups:

  • Municipal staff responsible for public green areas
  • Residential garden owners and local communities

_ Act as multipliers (trainers) at national and local level

_ Support municipalities and citizens in climate change adaptation

 

We invite to this training for trainers:

_ Experts from municipal Park and Green Departments

_ Urban planners, landscape architects, forestry and environmental specialists

_ Trainers and experts interested in knowledge transfer and capacity building

Participants are expected to contribute to local dissemination of knowledge in the target countries of Türkiye, Bulgaria, Georgia and Greece.

The training will be delivered by:

_ The LANDLAB expert team, established in Türkiye within the framework of the Green Urban Resilience Project, consisting of academic staff (teaching and research personnel) from the Faculty of Forestry, Department of Landscape Architecture at Istanbul University – Cerrahpaşa.

_ International experts in Urban planning, Landscaping, forestry and Green infrastructure and climate adaptation from Greece, Bulgaria and Georgia.

 

The trained trainers will gain:

_ Access to project-developed training programme and booklets

_ Practical knowledge on:

  • Climate-resilient plant selection
  • Sustainable maintenance of green areas
  • Planning of urban green infrastructure

_ Clear guidance on how to implement local trainings

_ Opportunity to join a regional network of trainers and experts

 

After completing this Training for Trainers, participants will have the opportunity to deliver local face-to-face trainings in their countries, to work for the rising awareness among municipalities and citizens and to contribute to capacity building for climate-resilient cities.
